How Hounds at Home Works
We begin with an interview to collect information about your dog's home life: his or her routine, individual needs, likes, and dislikes. We then match your dog to a Host Family best suited to your dog's requirements.
To assist in the comfort of your dog's stay you will need to provide any bedding that your dog may use, favourite toys, feeding and water bowls, and so on -- basically, anything that will make your dog's stay more comfortable. We will endeavour to meet any requests to satisfy the comfort of your dog.
After an initial settling-in period we will contact you (where possible) to let you know how your best friend has settled into their holiday!
Potential Host Families have been interviewed in their own homes and chosen based on their attitudes and values towards dogs. Their homes must be of an orderly fashion and the gardens safe and secure. All Host Families have at least two things in common: they love dogs, and they have the time and commitment to look after your dog. We greatly appreciate their support.
The food you provide ensures that your dog will maintain his or her usual dietary needs and avoids the potential negative effects of diet changes. And, of course, don't forget to include treats!
Hounds at Home has taken precautions to ensure that your dog's stay is a healthy and loving experience, but if your dog becomes ill we will contact your nominated veterinarian where possible. We have access to 24-hour medical treatment throughout Adelaide.
Hounds at Home will co-ordinate everything for you, including pick-up and drop-off at the beginning and end of your trip. While we like to drop off dogs at Host Families in the morning or early afternoon so that your dog can best acclimate to his or her new environment, upon your return we are able to bring your dog back at any time nominated.
